Initial Consultation
The consultation will begin with a discussion about the problems that you are experiencing, at which time it may be helpful for a family member to be present. A detailed medical history will be taken and an examination of your ears will be carried out using an otoscope. We will check your ears to ensure that they are healthy and that there are no obstructions in your ear canal that affect your ability to hear.
A hearing test will then be carried out to establish the type and extent of any loss.
We will then discuss with you what the results of the hearing test show and recommend a course of action. It may be necessary to refer you for a medical opinion, or if this is not required we will discuss the benefits that a hearing aid may bring. It is important to remember that a hearing aid will not restore the hearing to normal but that in most cases it will utilize the hearing that you have, to improve speech understanding. Which type of hearing system recommended will depend upon the hearing loss, the individual needs of the client and budget. It is likely that an impression will need to be taken of the ear to enable the casing to be manufactured.
The Fitting
The hearing instruments will be programmed to your individual prescription and then you will be given a full demonstration of the controls. You will be advised how to begin the process of listening through your hearing instruments, and what to expect over the coming weeks. A follow up appointment will be made.
Follow Up Appointments
The number of appointments necessary depends upon previous experience and the ability to adapt to wearing the instruments. This is an individual process and some people may find that initially they need more guidance and support than others. There is no limit to the number of appointments given to enable the wearer to gain the maximum benefit possible. Small adjustments may need to be made to the programming of the instruments over a period of several weeks.

The purchase of hearing instruments is only the beginning of a journey. We offer a lifetime aftercare service, tailored to your individual needs. We are committed to providing on-going service and support whenever it is needed.
